Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Security and Alarm Service Technician to install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair security alarm, fire alarm, access control, and camera systems. You will troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and provide on-site support and training to clients.

Work includes scheduled service calls and emergency response. Responsibilities include testing, diagnosing, repairing, and documenting work, plus coordinating with management on site surveys

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience servicing commercial security, fire alarm, access control and camera systems.
  • NICET level 1 or above preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from office or job site.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely.

Responsibilities

  • Service security, fire alarm, access control systems, camera systems and related devices; dismantle and/or reconstruct equipment as needed.
  • Conduct testing and inspections of security and fire alarm systems under maintenance agreements.
  • Troubleshoot and complete necessary repairs.
  • Make connections and adjustments as directed; test the operation of all system components.
  • Conduct site surveys upon request from management.
  • Keep manuals and system documentation up to date.
  • Report completed work, deferred tasks, and items needing further attention or materials to management.
  • Communicate job status or completion with customers (installation or service).
  • Write service and status reports.
  • Submit complete and accurate paperwork in a timely manner, obtaining all necessary signatures.
  • Accurately record travel and service times, complete timesheets, identify warranties, changes, and code issues, and provide thorough job descriptions.
  • Work independently at customer sites with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The Security and Alarm Service Technician installs, inspects, tests, maintains, and repairs security alarm, fire alarm, access control, camera systems and related life safety systems. This role ensures all systems operate effectively, comply with applicable codes and standards, and meet customer requirements. The technician will troubleshoot system issues, perform preventive maintenance, and provide on-site support and training to clients. Work may involve both scheduled service calls and emergency response.

  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
