Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to independently perform core maintenance and service tasks on fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

With a minimum of 3 years in the fire and life safety industry and a NICET Level I or higher preferred, you will diagnose issues, interpret drawings, complete service reports, and travel to job sites. On-call rotation and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, components, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience with security systems and access control is a plus.
  • Experience with BDA systems are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Must be willing to be in a on-call rotation.
  • Must be available for some out of town work related jobs is required.
  • If Driving Role: Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
  • Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment on job sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to entry-level technicians as needed.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must be willing to perform maintenance, inspections and some small retrofits and installation of fire alarms.

The Fire Alarm Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Other Duties:
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Pay:
  • $28+ per hour depending on certifications and experience.

  • Weekly pay.

  • Company take home vehicle.
