The Alabama Government Relations Director serves as the principal staff for state government affairs and chief lobbyist in Alabama for the Alzheimer’s Association. You will develop and execute strategies on Medicaid, long-term care, and aging policy, collaborating with coalitions and state agencies.

Required are a bachelor’s degree and at least five years in state government affairs, with strong legislative relationships and negotiation skills. A valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least 5 years experience working in state government affairs setting; as a state legislative staff person; or as policy staff in the governor’s office or relevant state agency, preferably in Alabama.
• Current contacts within the state legislature and executive branch.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute a multi-year state legislative and regulatory agenda in Alabama.
• Draft bills and regulatory language and secure bill sponsors.
• Testify before state committees and train volunteers and staff to testify when needed.
• Develop and grow relationships with legislators and state officials.
• Track state legislation and monitor committee actions and budgets.
