Job summary

MIDWEST AEROSPACE CASTING LLC in Merrillville, IN is seeking a Core/Mold Maker to produce cores, copes and drags using patterns and procedures. This is a physically demanding role requiring standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operation of hoists and carts.

You will follow work instructions, ensure safety, and keep the area clean while delivering quality workmanship. On-the-job training leads to certification and steady daily tasks in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
  • Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
  • Understand customer requirements, our company's internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
  • Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process.
  • Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information.
  • Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards & utilizing procedures available.
  • Make sure all equipment and tools are maintained and ready for use; responsible for documenting necessary repairs with immediate management.
  • Ensure everything is done and ready to comply with daily schedule; Maintain proper inventory of all items; notify supervision of material needs.
  • Retrieve, inspect, clean and properly put away all patterns & boxes used during a job.
  • Understand and be able to assemble materials such as chills, locators, vents, insulators, risers, etc. Understand types of sand, chemicals, binders, proper storage, palmer equipment.
  • Demonstrate safe operation of hoists and carts used in core making processes.
  • Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Description

Basic Function

Responsible for proper and safe production of cores, copes & drags using patterns and procedures to perform the required tasks. Core/Molders have to do a lot of twisting, using of mallets, picking things up, and pushing. This is a physical job that requires a person to be on their feet all day. The core/mold maker will utilize work instructions, follow procedures to install chills, locators, vents, risers, pack with sand, season and turn out product. Core/Mold makers shall ensure all procedures are being followed and signed, also that area is clean and free of obstructions.
