Job summary

St. Joseph County Airport is hiring a Winter Maintenance Assistant for the 2nd shift on a temporary basis in South Bend, IN.

The role supports airport maintenance staff during winter snow operations and assists with other tasks when snow operations are idle. You will perform preventative maintenance, assist with heavy components, operate escort-involved vehicles, and participate in de-icing and environmental cleanup as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of manual labor or related maintenance experience.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Background check and be able to obtain security credentials.
• Pre-employment drug screen and physical required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Airport Maintenance staff during winter snow operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Assist technicians with heavy components removal/ replacement.
• Drive Airport vehicles on controlled airfield surfaces with escort.
• Perform snow removal duties including salting, sanding, shoveling, brooming, plowing and de-icing products.
• Assist with maintenance of asphalt and concrete surfaces.
• Participate in required airport worker screenings and emergencies.
• Overtime as required.
