United Ground Express, at ORF Norfolk International Airport in Virginia, seeks a frontline handler to load and service flights. This role requires lifting up to 70 lbs, operating tugs and belt loaders, and performing cabin and cargo area tasks in all weather.

You will read load sheets, coordinate with flight crews via radio, and ensure compliance with airline, TSA, DOT, and FAA regulations while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid state driver's license with clean record.
• Must obtain airport credentials including fingerprinting and badging.
• Pre-employment screening (drug, hearing, vision) may be required.
• Able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays; overtime may be required.
• Proficient with computers and mobile devices.
• Strong reading/writing/speaking English.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs repeatedly.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo up to 70 lbs throughout shift.
• Push/pull loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading.
• Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying bags.
• Read load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels.
• Prepare aircraft for the next flight.
• Operate ground equipment such as tugs and belt loaders.
• Clean aircraft interior and service lavatories.
• Work outdoors in all temperatures.
• Communicate with team via radio devices.
• Ensure compliance with United, TSA, DOT and FAA regulations.
