Job summary

First Meridian Services is seeking a Prep Cook to support the kitchen team by preparing ingredients and maintaining a clean, organized workspace at our airport facilities. Duties include washing, chopping, portioning, and ensuring ingredients are ready for service, while following food-safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• 1+ years’ experience as a cook/prep cook in a full-service restaurant.
• ServSafe Certified is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing.
• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items following recipes and specifications.
• Portion and package prepared ingredients for use during service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Assist in setting up and stocking stations with necessary supplies and ingredients.
• Label and store all ingredients properly, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and blenders safely and efficiently.
• Assist cooks and chefs with various tasks as needed, including basic cooking and dish assembly.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to kitchen management.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper storage procedures are followed.
• Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
