POSITION OVERVIEW: Under minimal supervision and using independent judgment, this position provides advanced technical expertise and leads the performance of skilled technical tasks in the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of water plumbing systems in Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)-owned facilities.
ASSESSMENT: A skills assessment will be required for this position.
DRIVER’S REQUIREMENT: This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle, including on the AOA. A valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date is required. External new hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) standards, which restrict more than three moving violations or six DRE points within 36 months.

Details of duties include performing preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and installation on plumbing systems, managing work orders, coordinating with third-party contractors, diagnosing complex plumbing issues, operating specialized equipment, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include OSHA safety regulations, water system maintenance, construction procedures, use of power tools, blueprint reading, estimating, working in confined spaces, and establishing good working relationships.
This position requires a minimum 10-year criminal background check and security threat assessment.
