Job summary

City of Atlanta is seeking a Director of MEPF Engineering to lead a staff of aviation‑level professionals and consultants. The role oversees design, budgeting, scheduling, and implementation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for airport facilities and related infrastructure.

The director will guide standards development, manage risk, and interface with tenants, FAA, and other agencies while driving project success and ensuring quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
• 10 years of work experience in mid- to large-hub airport construction or similar, with supervisory exposure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the MEPF engineering team and consultants, including hiring, training, and performance management.
• Oversee the design and analysis of MEPF systems for buildings and other infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Develop and implement engineering standards, procedures, and quality control measures.
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and drawings.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules to meet goals.
• Provide technical guidance to team members and junior engineers.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in MEPF engineering.
• Participate in business development activities, including client meetings and proposals.
