Job summary

South Bend International Airport is seeking a Maintenance Technician in the Terminal area. The role involves a wide range of routine, semi-skilled, and manual work including building repairs, painting, and equipment upkeep.

You will work under the Terminal Facilities Superintendent with a Monday–Friday daytime schedule. The position requires driving Authority vehicles on airport grounds, completing background checks, and obtaining an airfield driving certification within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in commercial building maintenance, construction, or related field.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
• Must possess and maintain a valid United States, state issued, driver's license.
• Must complete and pass a comprehensive background and Criminal History Records check and be able to obtain security and access credentials.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical.
• Must be able to obtain Airfield “Movement Area” driving certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled maintenance team with painting, minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Perform general building maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Paint interior or exterior surfaces; select appropriate paint type and color.
• Mow grass, clean grounds, debris removal, and maintain terminal and landside areas.
• Drive airport vehicles on ramps and coordinate radio directions with the Air Traffic Control Tower.
