Job summary

The City of Amarillo seeks an IT Infrastructure Engineer I (Airport) to design, deploy, monitor, and support airport IT infrastructure. The role emphasizes high availability, security, and performance across Windows Server, VMware, VDI, and network components.

Responsibilities include maintenance, support, capacity planning, and vendor coordination. On-site work is required with background checks including TSA clearance for airport access.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Solid experience in administration and performance tuning of Microsoft Active Directory, VMware, and network infrastructure.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required and TSA security clearance/background checks may apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, monitors, and supports the infrastructure environment and/or facilities.
• Supports one or more systems or applications of low to medium complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring integrity and accessibility.
• Works with project teams to understand business needs and technical requirements.
• Performs routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems such as backups, patch management and hot fixes.
• Monitors system-operating capacity in terms of disk space, storage, and CPU utilization.
• Installs, configures and maintains approved system hardware and software components.
• Coordinates installation and maintenance work with outside vendors, as needed.
• Provides Level 1-2 production support and troubleshoots problems by analyzing root causes and evaluating options.
• Documents new or modified functions, modules, and test activities/results according to guidelines.
