Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority seeks an Interior Electrician to maintain interior electrical systems and equipment at Reagan National and Dulles airports.

You will install, test, troubleshoot, and repair lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and related control systems, following NEC and agency standards. A valid journeyman license or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems.
• OR A journeyman license as an Electrician.
• One year of specialized experience in installation, testing, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems such as air conditioning and handling controls, interior lighting, emergency lighting, motors, pumps, and switches.
• Journey-level knowledge of low-voltage electrical equipment and systems installation, testing, adjustment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair/replacement.
• Ability to analyze data and information (including blueprints and schematics).
• Ability to work safely and knowledge of safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to speak and write effectively.
• Skill in using a computer, computerized work order, and time and attendance system.

Responsibilities

• Installs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, and maintains interior electrical systems and internal power distribution equipment in airport facilities.
• Maintains fire alarms, public address systems, emergency lighting, and automatic equipment like compressors.
• Works on interior electric distribution systems with circuit breakers.
• Responds to trouble calls about malfunctioning equipment and power outages.
• Determines priorities for urgent issues vs. contractor involvement.
• Locates tripped breakers and prevents recurrence of trips.
• Installs wiring, junction boxes, switches, outlets, and panel boards in new builds or renovations.
