Job summary

Gilmer County Government seeks an Airport Maintenance Technician to perform manual and skilled tasks for the airport’s upkeep. You will maintain greens, hangar areas, and runways while following safety protocols and regulations.

The role requires physical labor, operation of light equipment and tools, and the ability to communicate with supervision and other crews. A Georgia driver’s license is required for site travel and assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of related/relevant experience preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual work including grounds and runway maintenance.
• Mows grass, trims edges along runways and landscaped areas.
• Operates light equipment and power/hand tools for department projects.
• Performs routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and safety checks.
• Sets up work zones, flags traffic, and assists with traffic safety around work sites.
• Completes forms, logs, and communications with supervisor and departments as needed.
