Job summary

City of Melbourne is seeking skilled Equipment Mechanics to perform inspection, maintenance, and service of automotive vehicles and related systems at the airport. Progresses from routine tasks to using specialized diagnostic equipment, with on-site supervision and clear performance reviews.

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or GED and two years’ fleet/auto maintenance experience.
Must be able to perform all duties of Equipment Mechanic.
Knowledge of automotive, truck and heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

Drives vehicles and equipment on Airport ramps, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, and safety areas.
Coordinates radio directions from the Air Traffic Control Tower via the Airport ground control radio frequency.
Conducts FAR Part 139 airfield inspections and records discrepancies, NOTAMs, and work orders as required.
Conducts inspections of airport facilities and generates work orders as required.
