Job summary

The City of Austin’s Aviation Department is seeking an Airport Facilities Construction Worker – Aviation to perform construction, maintenance, and repair across carpentry, roofing, cabinetry, framing, and painting, including basic plumbing. You will train others and coordinate resources to complete AUS projects, following blueprints, specifications, and codes.

This essential role requires a high school diploma, 3 years in building/facility construction (1 year in aviation), and a Texas Class C

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in general building or facility construction, including one (1) year in the Aviation industry.
• Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
• Texas Class C Driver’s License or ability to obtain within ninety (90) calendar days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair projects requiring complex work in carpentry, roofing, cabinetry, framing, and painting.
• Trains others in executing repair and construction projects.
• Performs basic plumbing installations and repairs.
• Assists in coordinating activities and ensuring availability of personnel, material, and equipment necessary to complete assigned construction projects.
• Follows blueprints, specifications, and building codes to ensure assigned construction requests meet specifications and codes.
• Completes data entry for work-related functions in the CMMS.
