Job Summary:
The Customer Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all functions of airline customer service operations, including auditing flight paperwork for compliance, evaluating personnel, coordinating medical attention and reporting for OJI's, ensuring safety policies are followed, attending safety and team meetings, managing personnel coverage, and liaising with airline customers and airport authorities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure the safe and efficient operation of all ground support equipment.
- Report any discrepancies in equipment functionality or mechanics.
- Coordinate with carriers to meet cargo and baggage service needs for on-time schedules.
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate activities with other departments through communication with supervisors and managers.
- Determine manpower needs and ensure disciplinary procedures are fair and timely.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
- Perform under pressure within fixed time constraints.
- Read and interpret aircraft loading instructions, hazard labels, and baggage routing tags.
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, municipal, airport, and carrier regulations.
- Brief crews before flights regarding roles and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of airline customer service.
- Experience in airport ground handling.
- Computer skills (minimum 6 months), including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to operate electronic devices such as phones, computers, fax machines, and printers.
- Proven supervisory experience in a business setting.
- Operational planning and resource management skills.
- Knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
- Understanding of commercial aviation issues.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Ability to process information quickly.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Basic computer literacy.
- Previous ramp or airline experience.
- Completion of all training and certification requirements.
- Successful FBI fingerprint background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical fitness to perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Repetitive lifting of up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and noisy environments.
- Flexibility to work variable shifts, weekends, and holidays, including extended hours on short notice.
