Job summary

The State of Hawai‘i is seeking a Custodial Supervisor within the Department of Transportation, Airports Division. This role requires supervising a team of janitors and 4–6 inmate workers, maintaining buildings and surrounding grounds, and performing light maintenance tasks.

Flexibility for rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends, is required. Applicants must have two years of janitorial experience and one year of supervisory duties, plus a valid driver’s license and successful

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of janitorial or custodial work experience.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience including scheduling and inspecting subordinates, instructing employees, maintaining discipline, ensuring safety, and keeping records.
• Valid driver's license at time of appointment.
• Pre-employment fingerprint-based background check and 10-year clean record for SIDA clearance.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of janitors and custodial personnel in cleaning and maintenance of buildings and areas.
• Supervises a crew of 4–6 inmate workers and oversees janitorial and housekeeping duties including grounds maintenance and basic repairs.
• Performs tasks not requiring trade skills such as moving heavy furniture and equipment and general cleaning.
