Job summary

Louisville Regional Airport Authority is seeking a Communications Specialist to perform routine and emergency communications for Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport and Bowman Field. The role includes monitoring electronic surveillance, dispatching responders, and assisting departments, tenants, and the public.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a Kentucky KLEC telecommunicator/dispatcher certificate (or obtain within six months).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Telecommunicator/dispatcher certificate issued through KLEC or ability to obtain within six months and maintain annual recertification.
• Must pass suitability screener, drug screen, and polygraph examination as part of hire process.

Responsibilities

• Receive, transfer, and broadcast non-emergency calls, radio calls, and electronic messages.
• Receive emergency calls and dispatch appropriate resources including officers, firefighters, and EMTs.
• Monitor security, crash, fire alarm systems, and other notification systems.
• Ensure security surveillance and communications systems are active and reliable.
• Provide information to the public when Information Booth is unavailable.
• Respond to complaints regarding maintenance and facilities issues.
