Mead & Hunt, Inc. is offering a limited-term, full-time Civil Engineering Intern position in our Portland, ME office. The role provides hands-on experience supporting engineering design and construction inspection on airport projects across Maine, with travel to nearby states.

The internship runs May/June 2027 through August/September 2027. The ideal candidate has completed at least two semesters of civil engineering or construction management coursework and possesses familiarity with AutoCAD,

Qualifications

• Two semesters of civil engineering or construction management coursework completed.
• Experience with airport project tasks and field inspections is beneficial.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil3D and basic FAA standards knowledge is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers, technicians and construction managers with civil design of airport projects including taxiways, runways and aprons.
• Assist with airfield design tasks such as grading, drainage, pavement and geometry layouts.
• Support preparation of drawings and plan sheets using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimates and data collection for airport projects.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations and project documentation.
• Participate in field investigations, site visits and construction observations.
• Assist with FAA standards research and compliance reviews.
• Other tasks as assigned.
