Job summary

The City of Wichita is seeking an Airport Construction Inspector to serve as a liaison among contractors, engineers, and clients. Work is performed both in office and field environments as required, supporting inspection, observation, drafting, research, and data management across a variety of project types.

Required five years of construction experience, three years of field surveying, valid driver's license, and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience supporting construction or capital improvement projects and maintaining accurate project records.
• Three (3) years of field surveying and measurements using GPS, total station, level, or data collection equipment.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Performs computations and calculations required in plans preparation and cost estimation.
• Reviews paving and structural designs.
• Performs inspection of construction work for compliance with contract documents.
• Observes testing of concrete, asphaltic concrete, aggregates and field moisture/density testing.
• Inspects, evaluates and documents pavement conditions.
• Creates and maintains databases, exhibits, maps, and GIS layers.
• Performs basic survey and data collection using GPS equipment.
