Unifi in Birmingham, AL is hiring for a part-time freight handler to route inbound and outbound air freight shipments and process related transactions. No experience is required; paid training is provided.

The role involves loading/unloading cargo, preparing bills of lading, weighing items, and handling payments, with shifts including days, evenings, and weekends. Comprehensive benefits are provided for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a valid Driving License.
• Must be able to obtain credentials as per airport/state requirements.

Responsabilités

• Load and unload freight, packages or cargo.
• Take orders from customers, arrange for pickup of cargo and answer questions related to cargo.
• Prepare bills of lading and weigh items to determine charges and prepare freight bills.
• Collect fees, process payments, and issue refunds using the computer system.
• Contact vendors and claims adjustment department to resolve problems with shipments.
• Prepare manifest to accompany shipments and maintain records of goods shipped, received and stored.
• May also perform ramp agent duties as needed.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.
• Complete work in a safe and secure manner, following company safety and operational standards
• Immediately report safety and security incidents as well as potential hazards in line with the Unifi Fair and Just Culture Policy.
