Job summary

Allegiant seeks an Optimization Engineer – Commercial to transform complex decisions into model‑based solutions that improve profitability and automate manual processes. The role combines operations research with software engineering to deliver reliable, production‑ready workflows and collaborates with stakeholders on new feature requests.

You will work with the Commercial Data Science team to integrate predictive models into prescriptive processes, iterate on existing optimization logic, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, OR, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a technical environment.
• Proficiency in writing production‑quality Python code with Pandas/NumPy, vectorization and parallelization.

Responsibilities

• Formulate airline commercial decision problems into rigorous quantitative models.
• Build and improve optimization models in Python‑based decision support systems.
• Design structured evaluations of model features using back‑testing, experiments, or simulation.
• Collaborate with the Commercial Data Science team to integrate ML solutions.
• Extract, transform, and load data from structured/unstructured sources via Python and SQL.
• Support production systems end‑to‑end and improve robustness and monitoring.
• Define requirements with stakeholders and deliver user‑facing improvements.
• Communicate results and trade‑offs with visuals and reports.
• Independently drive refactors for automation and maintainability.
• Document methodologies and stay updated on airline industry trends.
• Model Allegiant’s customer service standards in actions.
