Airframes Mechanic I
Location - California, MD (Pax River Naval Base)
Requirements
- Performs routine aircraft maintenance functions
- Must demonstrate an operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, engines and component parts
- Operates aircraft towing equipment in towing operations
- Maintains aircraft hydraulic systems
- Must have knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance
- Must be able to read and write, and interpret and comply with aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, and directives, guides and forms used on the job
- Knowledge on composite repairs
- Corrosion Prevention and treatment
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections on aircraft and aircraft systems and subsystems
- Performs troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and aircraft systems and aircraft sub-systems.
- Services ground support equipment. Performs preventive maintenance inspections on all ground support equipment
- Uses blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and manufacturers' drawings and sketches in the performance of assigned duties
- Completes maintenance documentation accurately using OOMA, and required forms, as required by job assignment
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a primary MOS from any of the following OccFlds: 6153 Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services or possess valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification
- Must show proficiency in the use of OOMA within 90 days after assignment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Aviation Structural Mechanic Core
- Aviation Structural Mechanic Organizational Level course
- Tire and wheel qualification
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and base access.
- USN/USMC experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass fit for work physical and/or drug test as required.
- Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, to include working overhead.
- Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flightline.
- Must be able to man and perform Flightline Extinguisher duties.
- If required must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate Powered Industrial Trucks.
- If required must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 - 4 hours.
- If required must be able to perform confined space activities.
- Travel may be required.
