The Sewer Operations Division seeks qualified candidates for Water Utility Mechanic III, requiring:

Performs heavy manual, semi-skilled, and skilled work in installation, maintenance, construction, operation, modification, repair, and testing of water and sewer systems. Operates various tools and equipment, inspects sewer lines with CCTV, maintains facilities, and responds to emergencies. Complete duties are detailed in the official class specification.
Applicants must meet either Option A or Option B:
Substitutions include certifications or coursework, with proof required at application.
Includes understanding of water/sewer systems, safety practices, operation of equipment, reading maps/drawings, and communication skills. Ability to respond to emergencies, operate heavy machinery, and lift up to 90 pounds is required.
Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain Class B CDL, and willingness to respond to emergency calls within 30 minutes.
Current CWEA certification and California Water Operator licenses are preferred.
Includes application review, written exam (minimum score 70), and consideration of veteran points. The eligible list remains in effect for one year.
