Job summary

Jarvis Airfoil, Inc. seeks an Experienced Hand/Belt Polisher for SECOND shift in Portland, CT. You will join a team focused on precision finishing and quality.

Tasks include hand-belt grinding airfoils to finish contours and dimensions, radii and surface work, edge breaking, and GD&T inspection of close tolerances.

Requirements: 3+ years in hand finishing, GD&T proficiency, aerospace airfoil experience preferred. Safety and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in hand finishing and polishing.
• Strong understanding of GD&T.
• Experience inspecting close tolerances.
• Experience with airfoils or aerospace parts is ideal.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Hand-belt grind airfoil shapes to finish contour and dimensions.
• Finish radii, surfaces, and edge breaking as required.
• Inspect contour, location, twist, max edge dimensions; verify platform dims.
• Qualifier for new airfoil setups and belting/polishing procedures.

Job description

We have an opening position for an Experienced Hand/Belt Polisher on SECOND shift. The ideal candidate will contribute innovative ideas and be an asset to our team. This position will be responsible for:

• Hand-belt grinding various airfoil shapes to their finish contour and dimensions.
• Finishing operations including sizing and finishing platform radii and platform surfaces, radius chords, polishing operations, and breaking sharp edges as required.
• Inspect airfoil contour, location, twist, t-max edge dimensions, and platform dimensions as required.
• Working on parts which have close tolerances and more complex shape and qualifies new airfoil setups. Determines proper belting and polishing procedures for new part number.
• Participating in creating a professional, safe, and clean environment, and protects company assets.
• Keeping supervisor informed regarding quality issues, safety concerns, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 3+ years' experience in Hand finishing/polishing
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Skilled in inspection of close tolerances and complex shaped parts
• Experience working with airfoils or aerospace parts ideal
• Skilled in exercising initiative and discretion to help achieve organization objectives

Qualifications

• Must be able to: lift over 30 pounds up to 4 feet, maintain stationary position for 50% of shift, stand, walk or traverse 50% of shift, work with repetitive hand and arm motion 60% of shift with suitable break periods, ascend or descend 20% of shift, and bend, reach, position, and place 50% of shift.
