Jarvis Airfoil, Inc. seeks an Experienced Hand/Belt Polisher for the SECOND shift in Middletown, CT. The role focuses on hand-belt grinding to finish airfoil shapes to required contours and dimensions, ensuring precision and quality across parts.

The ideal candidate will inspect contours, twists, and edge dimensions, determine belting and polishing procedures for new part numbers, and uphold a safe, clean work environment while protecting assets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hand finishing/polishing experience
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Skilled in inspecting close tolerances and complex-shaped parts
• Experience with airfoils or aerospace parts (ideal)
• Capable of initiative and discretion to meet objectives

Responsibilities

• Hand-belt grind airfoil shapes to finish contours and dimensions.
• Finish radii, platform surfaces, radius chords, polishing, and edge breaks as required.
• Inspect airfoil contour, location, twist, t-max edge, and platform dimensions.
• Work on close-tolerance parts; qualify new airfoil setups; determine belting/polishing for new part numbers.
• Maintain a professional, safe, clean work environment and protect company assets.
• Keep supervisor informed about quality issues and safety concerns.

Job description

We have an opening position for an Experienced Hand/Belt Polisher on SECOND shift. The ideal candidate will contribute innovative ideas and be an asset to our team. This position will be responsible for:

• Hand-belt grinding various airfoil shapes to their finish contour and dimensions.
• Finishing operations including sizing and finishing platform radii and platform surfaces, radius chords, polishing operations, and breaking sharp edges as required.
• Inspect airfoil contour, location, twist, t-max edge dimensions, and platform dimensions as required.
• Working on parts which have close tolerances and more complex shape and qualifies new airfoil setups. Determines proper belting and polishing procedures for new part number.
• Participating in creating a professional, safe, and clean environment, and protects company assets.
• Keeping supervisor informed regarding quality issues, safety concerns, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 3+ years' experience in Hand finishing/polishing
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Skilled in inspection of close tolerances and complex shaped parts
• Experience working with airfoils or aerospace parts ideal
• Skilled in exercising initiative and discretion to help achieve organization objectives

Qualifications

• Must be able to: lift over 30 pounds up to 4 feet, maintain stationary position for 50% of shift, stand, walk or traverse 50% of shift, work with repetitive hand and arm motion 60% of shift with suitable break periods, ascend or descend 20% of shift, and bend, reach, position, and place 50% of shift.
• Must be able to operate, activate, and use manufacturing/productivity machinery.
