Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Quality Inspector to apply QES to visual inspection of castings, decide acceptance or rejection, and perform rework as needed. The role involves operating air-powered tools, grit blasting, and performing “Toy Soldier” inspections to identify differences among parts.

Responsibilities include lifting parts up to 6 pounds and trays up to 25 pounds, touching up parts, and training Touch Up Operator I’s. Overtime and weekend overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school education is required.
• Nine months on-the-job training (OJT) is required.
• Must be able to lift/move parts and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and apply the Quality Engineering Specification (QES) to the visual inspection of a casting, using a scan pattern for the inspection.
• Indications are evaluated and a decision is made to accept or reject the casting based on the acceptance of the QES.
• Operate air powered tool to remove defects and/or rework castings.
• Grit blast parts in an enclosed grit blast cabinet, as necessary.
• “Toy Soldier” inspection of parts to help identify differences per the QES.
• Lifting of individual parts (up to 6 pounds) and a tray of parts (up to 25 pounds) is required.
• Qualified to touch up all parts within area.
• Perform other duties for which certification is required.
• Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.
