Job summary

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the Delivery Architecture team in customer engagements, helping clients operationalize Airflow and Astro at scale. You will work with engineers, project managers, and executives to design data orchestration platforms on Astro, combining architecture with hands-on prototyping.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture.
• Airflow expertise authoring and deploying Dags to production, monitoring, and troubleshooting failures.
• Experience tuning Airflow performance, refactoring Dag code, right-sizing infrastructure, and implementing data quality checks and alerts.
• Proven track record guiding customers through deployments, migrations, or transformations with scope and timelines.
• Cloud-native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP; familiarity with networking, security, and identity patterns.
• Programming in Python and SQL; familiarity with CI/CD, IaC, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Strong ability to drive architectural decisions with engineering leaders and executives.
• Excellent communication and documentation translating business needs into scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture reviews, workshops, and design sessions with engineering teams and executives.
• Design end-to-end platform architectures integrating Airflow with cloud infrastructure and data platforms.
• Review delivery work for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence.
• Diagnose issues and guide customers through deployments, migrations, and modernization.
• Build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and best practices to raise delivery quality.
