Job summary

SambaSafety is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automation across operational workflows using Apache Airflow and scripting. You will build robust pipelines, automate file transfers, health checks, and data validation while ensuring secure handling of secrets and RBAC compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automation that reduces manual work and increases reliability.
• Strong proficiency with Apache Airflow: DAGs, sensors, operators, and UI.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting for maintainable automation code.
• Solid SQL skills for data validation, queries, and integrity checks.
• Experience with FTP/SFTP, file transfer automation, and secure data handling.
• Ability to implement robust monitoring, logging, and observability across pipelines.
• Version control with Git; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain DAGs in Apache Airflow to schedule tasks.
• Automate file transfers, FTP pickups, and health checks with reliable retry logic.
• Ensure applications run via automated health checks and restarts where needed.
• Perform data validation and integrity checks; alert on anomalies in logs or DB tables.
• Consume emails and trigger automated actions based on content.
• Build integrations via REST/SOAP APIs and manage credentials securely.
• Collaborate with Ops, Data, Engineering, and Product teams to enable automation best practices.
