Job summary

The City of Wichita is seeking an Airport Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day airport operations, ensuring compliance with Part 139 and the Airport Certification Manual. The role requires coordinating with FAA ATCT, conducting inspections, and managing procedures.

Ideal candidate will demonstrate strong decision‑making, report writing, and experience with airside and landside operations, wildlife hazard management, and emergency response.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and airport policies.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to learn and apply technical policies, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to hear and speak over radio communications.
• Ability to record information accurately, both in writing and electronically.
• Ability to read and interpret construction safety plans.
• Ability to learn 14 CFR Part 139 and FAA advisory circulars.

Responsibilities

• Performs day-time and night-time safety and security inspections and documents discrepancies.
• Conducts security patrols and vehicle inspections.
• Responds to aircraft and other airport emergencies.
• Coordinates snow and ice procedures and runway/taxiway openings with ATCT and maintenance.
• Prepares and distributes written and electronic reports as required.
• Attends pre-construction and construction safety meetings.
