Job summary

The City of Houston’s Houston Airport System seeks an Airport Operations Coordinator - Airside to maintain a safe, secure airside environment, coordinate maintenance and emergency response, and support tenant activities. The role includes inspecting runways, taxiways, and airfield areas to ensure FAR 139 compliance and safety across aircraft, vehicles and personnel.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautics, Airway Science, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations and/or maintenance of an airport.
• Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
• Requires a valid Class C Texas driver’s license and compliance with City policy on driving.
• Knowledge of 150 Series ACs, 14 CFR Part 139 and NFPA regulations is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with 14 CFR Part 139 by inspecting runways, taxiways, ramps and aeronautical areas.
• Coordinates responses to aircraft emergencies, hazmat and medical incidents per Airport Emergency Plan.
• Monitors airfield operations, maintains radio contact with control tower, and coordinates daily work on the AOA.
• Performs wildlife management per Wildlife Hazard Plan and 14 CFR Part 139.337.
• Prepares inspection reports and logs; participates in drills and exercises.
• Enforces airfield safety, leases and airport policies; issues NOVs as required.
