Job summary

The Charlotte County Airport Authority seeks an Airside Operations Technician at Punta Gorda (PGD) to coordinate day-to-day airport operations under the Airside Operations Manager and Assistant Manager. The role focuses on inspection, detection, and reporting to ensure compliance with FAA and TSA regulations.

This entry-level position requires timely communication, professional engagement with staff and tenants, and the ability to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• At least 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination.
• Private pilot certification is highly desirable.
• AAAE certifications & accreditations are highly desirable.
• Successful completion of FAA NF-Obs Weather Observer training within 6 months of hire.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and database applications.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Airport in a professional manner under supervision.
• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and related plans (14 CFR Part 139, Airport Manual, Emergency Plan).
• Inspect air operations area, facilities, fencing, gates, and surrounding property; record discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Air Traffic Control and issue NOTAMs reflecting current conditions.
• Document and mitigate wildlife hazards per the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
• Engage with staff and tenants on airfield improvements; promote safety and compliance.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents; compose and distribute incident reports as needed.
• Provide escorts through the Air Operations Area and monitor rule compliance.
• Keep current on FAA/TSA advisory circulars and inform management of changes.
• Monitor driving rules and report reiterations; assist with minor maintenance.
