Job summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking an Airport Operations Dispatcher for Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. You will monitor and assure safe, efficient airport operations, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with FAA, TSA, and tenants to maintain compliance with FAR Part 139 and ACM.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor degree in aviation management or a related field, or any combination of relevant education and experience.
• Valid current driver’s license; license preferred or must obtain TCOLE Telecommunications within one year.
• Hunting education certificate preferred or must obtain within three months.

Responsibilities

• Inspect runways, taxiways, ramps to ensure compliance with FAR Part 139 and ACM.
• Issue and record airport identification badges, parking decals, and permits.
• Make decisions affecting operations during emergencies and snow removal per FAR Part 139 and TSA regulations.
• Issue and cancel NOTAMs for airfield facilities in accordance with FAR Part 139.
• Respond to aircraft emergencies as Incident Commander; coordinate responding services.
• Document daily airfield events through logs and reports.
• Coordinate operations with FAA, TSA, other agencies, and tenants to ensure safety.
• Perform safety inspections of refueling procedures and equipment; issue violations as needed.
• Coordinate operations with staff and outside agencies; respond to complaints from tenants and public.
• Conduct terminal building safety inspections and maintain operational standards.
• Evaluate airfield conditions in bad weather; manage snow operations and notify authorities.
• Conduct aviation division training and verify access requirements and media.
• Monitor airfield conditions for safe aircraft operations and assist users.
• Train personnel to obtain airport identification badges.
• Respond to inquiries from tenants, airlines, and regulatory agencies.
• Maintain records and prepare operational reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned; work shifts as Dispatcher when required.
