Job summary

County of Volusia is seeking an Equipment Operator II assigned to Daytona Beach International Airport to maintain the airfield and operate medium to heavy equipment for road maintenance and drainage tasks. Qualifications

• Requires completion of the eighth grade and two years of experience operating moderately sized construction and automotive equipment.
• Knowledge of operating and repair characteristics of medium and heavy public works equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates ten-wheel trucks and other heavy equipment at the airport.
• Performs daily safety inspections of assigned equipment.
• Maintains airfield in accordance with FAA safety regulations.
• Performs routine service and maintenance on equipment.
• May supervise a small team on the airfield.
• Ensures safety and proper operation around runways and taxiways.
