Job summary

The City of Mesa is seeking an Airport Electrical Maintenance Technician to maintain airfield electrical systems up to 5,000 volts, including runway, taxiway, and threshold lighting, and safety-critical navigational aids such as PAPI and REIL. This role requires meticulous work with high voltage and strict adherence to FAA safety regulations.

The successful candidate will handle wiring, relays, circuit boards, and lighting fixtures, and participate in airport improvement and emergency response

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
Trade/vocational training in high voltage electrical systems or AAAE ACE certification.
1–3 years experience in facilities/grounds maintenance or related field.

Responsibilities

Maintain high-voltage electrical systems up to 5,000 volts on airfield.
Inspect and repair airport lighting (PAPI, REIL) and navigational aids.
Replace wiring, circuit breakers, relays, switches, fuses and light fixtures.
Perform safety inspections in hangars and ensure FAA safety compliance.
Support airport improvement projects and ensure contractor safety compliance.
Respond to air-related emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
