Job Summary

This position builds and maintains the squadron flying schedule for a B-52H unit. The scheduling load is driven by crew volume and by the coordination required across the squadron, wing scheduling and outside agencies. Expect frequent revision after publication.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Build the long-range and short-range flying schedule so aircrew, instructor, evaluator, supervisor and support positions are fully covered.
  • Coordinate with Wing Scheduling, outside agencies and higher headquarters on exercise and special event scheduling, including RED FLAG, GREEN FLAG and Weapons School support taskings.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly with squadron, group and wing leadership to facilitate flying operations.
  • Determine flight, ground and simulator requirements for upgrade, initial qualification, requalification, transition, currency and continuation training based on syllabus requirements, student progression, weather and range availability.
  • Coordinate with training officers, Aviation Resource Management, the Unit Deployment Manager and the Operations Officer to arrange the schedule against DO priorities.
  • Update Patriot Excalibur (PEX) and locally developed database systems, and publish ground, academic, flying and simulator schedules.
  • Track leave, TDY, medical appointments and other commitments, and deconflict crews against assigned sortie taskings.
  • Obtain aircraft and equipment availability from maintenance and schedule crews accordingly.
  • Schedule aircrews based on experience to mitigate Operational Risk Management.
  • Work short-notice changes with the current mission commander or operations supervisor when a shift is not fully manned.
  • Attend Special Use Airspace, Airspace Restrictions and Range Scheduling meetings for coordination and deconfliction.
  • Produce the Flying Effectiveness Report, Flying Hour Program Report and Ready Aircrew Program inputs.
Qualifications and Skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active SECRET clearance, or a previously held SECRET clearance that expired and was not revoked.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working as a squadron aircrew scheduler.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with PEX or a similar proprietary scheduling program.
QUALIFICATION WAIVERS

The Government may waive specific qualifications on a case-by-case basis where a candidate has the knowledge and skills to support the mission. Aircrew scheduling experience on a system other than PEX, and training or stan eval experience from another service, are examples. If you meet most but not all of the qualifications listed, submit an application.

CLEARANCE AND CITIZENSHIP
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active SECRET security clearance, or a previously held SECRET clearance that expired and was not revoked.
  • Eligibility for access to Restricted Data.
  • Work is performed at the SECRET level.
POSITION DETAILS
  • On site at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
  • Full time. Core working hours are 1,880 hours per year across 47 weeks, normally eight hours per day, five days per week, as determined by the Contracting Officer's Representative.
  • Duty hours may shift during exercise support and around holidays but will not exceed nine hours in a day. Changes are coordinated 48 hours in advance.
  • Federal holidays are observed, along with AFGSC Family Days.
  • Four Aircrew Scheduler and three Operations Training and Stan Eval positions are anticipated at this installation.
  • Anticipated start on or about 26 September 2026, with all positions filled by 26 October 2026.
  • Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, paid time off and 401(k).
  • Base period plus four one-year option periods.
LOCATION

Barksdale AFB is located in Bossier City, Louisiana, adjacent to Shreveport. The combined metropolitan area is approximately 390,000. Cost of living is below the national average and housing is available close to the installation.
