Job summary

Draken seeks skilled Aircrew Flight Equipment Technicians to maintain and operate the largest fleet of commercial tactical military fighter jets. You will work on helmets, oxygen masks, survival gear, and parachutes, ensuring proper installation, testing, and fit of AFE equipment.

You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, maintain documentation, and comply with safety and program requirements. Willingness to travel and work all shifts is required; security clearance is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and fitting flight equipment including helmets, oxygen masks, survival gear, and parachutes.
  • At least 2 years in training others on proper use of flight equipment and survival procedures.
  • At least 4 years with US military regulations governing life support equipment.
  • At least 2 years on aircrew life support equipment for fighters or trainers.
  • Experience leading an aircrew life support and flight equipment shop preferred.
  • Must obtain/maintain secret security clearance.
  • Able to work all shifts and travel as part of a team.
  • High School diploma or GED; English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Build-up, inspection, maintenance, repair, and adjustment of Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) such as helmets, oxygen masks, survival kits, helmet devices, parachutes, harnesses, anti-G garments and other AFE.
  • Issue and fit AFE.
  • Ensure all calendar maintenance and inspection items are completed timely.
  • Properly install and remove aircraft-installed AFE.
  • Use test equipment (oxygen/radiation testers, leakage testers) to conduct reliability testing and troubleshooting on AFE.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as required.
  • Maintain inspection and accountability documentation for AFE issued to aircrews or on aircraft.
  • Comply with safety, training and PWS requirements; perform other related duties.

Job Description
  • Qualified in the build-up, inspection, maintenance, repair, and adjustment of Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, survival kits, helmet mounted devices, parachutes, harnesses, anti-G garments, and other types of AFE equipment.
  • Issues and fits AFE.
  • Ensure all calendar maintenance and inspection items are completed in a timely manner.
  • Properly installs and removes aircraft-installed AFE.
  • Uses various types of test equipment such as oxygen testers, leakage testers, radio testers, and other types of testers to conduct reliability testing and troubleshooting on AFE.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as required.
  • Maintains inspection and accountability documentation on AFE equipment issued to aircrews or prepositioned on aircraft.
  • Complies with all safety, training and applicable PWS requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required qualifications in all aspects of maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and fitting flight equipment to include helmets, oxygen masks, survival gear, and parachute packing.
  • Requires at least 2 years experience conducting training in the proper use of flight equipment, land and water survival, hanging harness, and ejection seat training.
  • Requires at least 4 years experience with US military regulations/ instructions governing the maintenance, inspection, and use of flight and life support equipment.
  • Requires at least 2 years experience working on aircrew life support equipment on fighter or trainer aircraft.
  • Experience leading an aircrew life support and flight equipment shop is preferred.
  • Must obtain/maintain secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
  • Must be able to travel as part of a team.
  • High School / GED required.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line. Extensive sitting to climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
  • Special vision abilities required are close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
