The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, metal fabrication skills, and a broad understanding of aircraft systems and structures to provide hands-on resources for students in a hands-on learning environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years fabrication, maintenance, or related technical experience.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Experience with metal fabrication, sheet metal, woodworking, welding, or mechanical assembly.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to tow trailers and transport equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and modify aviation training aids to support classroom and laboratory instruction.
  • Construct instructional mock-ups, cutaways, system trainers, engine stands, and other educational devices.
  • Build and repair sheet metal, composite, wood, and welded training structures.
  • Refurbish aircraft components for instructional use.
  • Assist instructors in developing practical projects and demonstrations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on training aids and shop equipment.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of training aids, tools, materials, and consumables.
  • Retrieve aircraft, engines, and components from airports, salvage facilities, and vendors.
  • Coordinate aircraft disassembly, loading, transport, and unloading activities.
  • Prepare acquired aircraft and components for instructional use.
  • Assist in evaluating aircraft and component purchases for suitability as training assets.
  • Support hangar organization and shop layout projects.
  • Assist with campus expansion, equipment installation, and facility improvements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional laboratory and hangar environment.
  • Support special events, exhibits, and off-site activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety policies and OSHA requirements.
