Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Structures Technician in Cedar Hill, TX, on-site, to perform sheet metal tasks and support maintenance operations. You will read blueprints, work from drawings, and use riveters, sealants, and related tools to repair and fabricate airframe components.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent; A&P license is welcome but not required. A valid driver's license and passport are advantageous for travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling and riveting on airframe components.
• Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.

• Operate shop equipment (brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, hand tools).
• Navigate electronic training materials and maintenance data bases with basic computer skills.
• Communicate effectively in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What you can expect as a Structures Technician at DAS Aviation:

As Sheetmetal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures and techniques.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.


• Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.


• Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required.


• Safely operate shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions


• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases


• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English


• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

Knowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing and dimpling)

• Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as sheet metal technician.


• Master: 5+ years’ experience as a sheet metal technician.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses. Multiple Departments to include : Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelle and heavy structural repairs, light structures repair on components.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
