Job summary

ASD in Iuka, MS seeks an Aircraft Structures Mechanic Level 3. This hands-on role requires reading blueprints, fabricating structural assemblies with precision drilling, and aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.

You will perform meticulous measuring with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and implement quality controls, while working varied shifts with PPE on the shop floor. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in aerospace/manufacturing structures, is able to pass

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years of structures/composites experience in aerospace/manufacturing.
• Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation and respirator clearance.
• Active secret clearance to start.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints.
• Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies with precision drilling, countersinking, and calibrated tools.
• Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
• Perform fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, riveting, drilling and reaming.
• Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
• Ensure quality per statistical process controls and shop procedures.
• Operate within shop controls and PPE requirements.
• Support continuous improvement in production methods.

Aircraft Structures Mechanic Level 3 supporting our Iuka, MS site. This role is for a hands‑on person with great attention to detail, top focus on quality and excellent people skills. If you are intrigued by this opportunity keep reading below.

Responsibilities

This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts). Responsibilities:

• Read and understand blueprints
• Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies to include precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools
• Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
• Performing part-fitting operations: filing sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming
• Measures parts with precision tools such as, micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
• May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedure
• Daily usage of manufacturing shop controls and systems
• Use of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor
• Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance and team effectiveness Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of 4 years of structures/composites experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment

This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces

Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment

Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirators fitting requirements

Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical prior to starting

Must have the active secret clearance to start

Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need

The ability to utilize a computer for basic functions (including navigating through windows operating systems, getting online, executing online training modules and ability to be trained using on the job software)

Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends Preferred Qualifications

Experience in aerospace manufacturing

Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools

Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.
