Job summary

Kalitta Air in Oscoda, MI, seeks a Regular Full-Time Structures Engineer to support maintenance of the fleet. The role reports to the Structures Engineering Manager and requires 1st shift availability and strong English communication for detailed engineering reports.

Responsibilities include regulatory approvals, data validation for EO/EA work, and coordination with internal teams and FAA DER engineers. A minimum of 5 years aircraft structural experience or an engineering degree is required.

Qualifications

• Have degree in an appropriate engineering field or a minimum of 5 years aircraft structural experience at heavy maintenance level.
• Ability to read, write and understand English; write detailed reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure approved data is used in development of EOs and EAs for maintenance, repair, and modification of fleet aircraft and appliances.
• Obtain regulatory approval when required for modifications/repairs on Kalitta Air structures and components.
• Determine whether repairs/alterations are major or minor per 14 CFR requirements.
• Evaluate Federal Regulations, ADs, SBs, and other notices to revise maintenance programs as needed.
• Develop necessary engineering documentation within the schedule and report progress.
• Coordinate with Structures/Avionics Engineer Manager to develop corrective action plans.
• Provide 24/7 technical support to Technical Services, Ground Operations, Flight Operations, and others.
• Interface with manufacturers, MROs, regulatory agencies; liaison with outside engineering.
• Interface with FAA DER Engineers to support repairs and modifications.
• Develop product improvement modifications as directed by management.
• Support integration of repairs/modifications for new and existing aircraft.
• Update manufacturer manuals and documents for accuracy.
• Participate in industry groups, meetings, and conferences as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
