Aircraft Painter 2 in GAC St. Louis

Unique Skills:

Must be able to work from a scissor lift and wear fall restraint equipment.

The compensation range for this role is $27.17 - $31.70 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, skills, experience, education, and location.

Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required; 2 years of related painting experience preferred; aircraft industry experience is a plus. Valid driver's license required.

Position Purpose: The Aircraft Painter II works with minimal supervision to prepare, paint, and detail aircraft according to schedule, adhering to quality standards and procedures.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Safely perform aircraft preparation, painting, and detailing, ensuring compliance with FAA and internal standards.
  2. Operate tools and equipment such as sanders, lifts, and sprayers following SOPs; maintain equipment properly.
  3. Use sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals safely, with appropriate protective gear.
  4. Follow safety protocols, identify and address unsafe conditions.
  5. Utilize material tracking systems for parts, work sign-offs, and squawks.
  6. Assist with aircraft movement within hangars.
  7. Participate in continuous improvement activities and suggest enhancements.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding).
  • Ability to use painting tools and equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Pass Pulmonary Function Test for respirator certification.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift.
  • Computer literate.
  • Knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, acrylics).
