Aircraft Mechanic II - DEA Program - Fort Lauderdale, FL

The Aircraft Mechanic in this role is responsible for leading aircraft maintenance activities, exercising independent judgment, and supervising a crew of mechanics. Work is performed with minimal supervision, consulting a supervisor only for initial assignments or deviations from standard practices. The position offers a cost-of-living allowance (COLA) and additional compensation based on endorsements and certifications.

The key responsibilities include:

  1. Service, inspect, and repair aircraft according to manufacturer’s data and CFR regulations.
  2. Interpret and comply with technical data, service instructions, and airworthiness directives.
  3. Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform corrective actions on aircraft systems.
  4. Coordinate with OEMs, technical reps, and suppliers for support.
  5. Repair and replace aircraft structures and components to ensure airworthiness.
  6. Record maintenance actions accurately and in compliance with regulations.
  7. Perform duties as ATR Aircraft Crew Chief and Flight Attendant, including configuration changes, fueling, and cargo handling.
  8. Perform preventive maintenance on ground support equipment.
  9. Support mission requirements, including shift work, outside normal hours, and travel.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or GED; technical training, military experience, or equivalent preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate required; IA preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience on small to medium fixed-wing and helicopter aircraft within the last 12 months.

Required skills and characteristics:

  • Experience with maintenance of various aircraft types (e.g., Cessna 206/208, Beechcraft King Air, Bell 407/412).
  • Tools for maintenance tasks, knowledge of safety and maintenance manuals, FAA regulations.
  • Ability to interpret documents, make decisions, and maintain aircraft records.
  • Ability to obtain DOJ Security Clearance, hold a valid driver’s license, and be a U.S. citizen.
  • Valid US Passport and vaccinations for international travel.

Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in various environmental conditions, including hangars and outdoors. The work environment involves exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and noise, with required PPE.
