Job description

Location: 180th Fighter Wing, ANG CRF, Toledo, OH

Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022)

Aircraft Mechanics II must possess experience in repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet mission requirements. They provide input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD), and assist in recommending changes to (MWO). They should be able to prioritize workloads, lead teams through complex aircraft tasks, and inspect Mechanics IIs and Is.

This role involves maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts. Knowledge of airframe and power plant systems, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and technical documentation interpretation (blueprints, manuals) is essential. Familiarity with aircraft tools and technical publications is required. The mechanic may also make entries in aircraft logs and records and may specialize in areas like sheet-metal, electric work, or avionics.

Aircraft Engine Mechanic II Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, modify, repair, disassemble, and assemble F100-PW-100/200/220/229 engines.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled engine inspections per technical data.
  • Analyze malfunctions using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostics data.
  • Operate test cells, make final engine adjustments, and verify safe operation.
  • Maintain documentation on Aerospace Ground Equipment related to aircraft engines.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of turbine jet engine troubleshooting, repairs, and parts replacement.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft and turbine jet engine sheet metal/structural modifications and repairs.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory and engine/aircraft tools.
  • Experience with turbine jet engine blade blending and borescope inspection.
  • Maintenance experience with turbine jet engines.
Task Requirements:
  • Perform aircraft maintenance including corrosion control, inspection, disassembly, repair, and surface finish removal.
  • Document maintenance actions accurately.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions using various tools and manuals.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work shift hours and overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Personnel Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience at various levels.
  • Attended Aviation Powerplant School or equivalent.
  • Three years' experience in aviation powerplant maintenance.
  • Ability to work shifts, climb ladders, and handle small parts.
  • Security clearance and CAC eligibility required.
Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly rate: $37.73

Additional fringe benefit: $2.65/hour for health and welfare up to 40 hours/week.

Employment Conditions:
