Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic Egress in Fallon, Nevada. This role requires expertise in F-16A/B/C or D maintenance, particularly in ejection systems. Responsibilities include performing inspections, repairs, and modifications to ensure operational integrity.

Job Overview

The F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) Airforce Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School graduate mechanic performs organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, and Air Force manufacturer and company distributors.
  • Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on F-16A/B/C or D models.
  • Remove, transport, inspect, repair, and reinstall F-16 ejection seats.
  • Inspect, repair, and clean seat harnesses.
  • Inventory, store, remove, and replace seat CAD/PAD explosive items.
  • Maintain environmental systems and canopy explosive devices on F-16 models.
  • Maintain and inspect onboard oxygen generating system (OBOGS) or liquid oxygen (LOX).
  • Perform scheduled/unscheduled on- and off-equipment maintenance.
  • Perform aircraft corrosion control procedures: wash, wipe down, polish, vacuum.
  • Operate GSE, flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
  • Drive tugs for towing equipment and aircraft.
  • Annotate maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF system.
  • Order aircraft/equipment parts.
  • Supervise or assist in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years recent experience in ejection seat maintenance and two (2) years recent egress system repair experience.
  • Must have F-16A/B/C or D aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Graduate of the Air Force F-16A/B/C or D Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School (T/M/S) or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
  • Qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty.
  • Familiar with Navy technical publications.
  • Special vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
  • May need to lift objects up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to work in high noise environments, fumes, electrical shock hazards, inclement weather.
  • May be required to perform off‑site service on assigned detachments.
Minimum Requirements
  • Capable of conducting on‑the‑job training and maintenance of Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records; experienced and qualified in removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies and explosive devices, both “I” and “0” levels.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrates in‑depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Previous Military: must provide Member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
  • Formal or specialized training or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements
  • Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Training.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
  • ISO 9001‑2000 Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS/OOMA or Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Management system knowledge.
  • ESD Training.
  • Support Equipment Operator’s License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum).
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Non‑Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
  • Plane Captain Qualified.
  • Aircraft Towing Certified.
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Training, Engine Run (1 T/M/S minimum) Troubleshooter/Final Checker Certified.
