Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. in Wichita, KS, is seeking an assembly technician for defense manufacturing. You will assemble, inspect, and test parts per drawings, perform precision measurements, and use specialized tooling to build sub-assemblies and end items for delivery to customers.

The role requires a current or recent U.S. Secret Clearance, ability to obtain Special Program Access, and willingness to work shifts, including weekends. Training and cross-training in inspection are provided.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required (or recently active).
• Ability to obtain Special Program Access.
• Experience in aero structural training or related sheet metal work.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, form, test and inspect parts into end-items per drawings and specs.
• Obtain information from prints, charts, and work instructions.
• Use shop math and precision measuring tools to complete assemblies.
• Utilize tooling to assemble components into sub-assemblies and end items.
• Verify work against instructions and report discrepancies.
• Ensure tool certification is current per procedure.
• Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily duties.
• Move product within the manufacturing area using shop equipment.
• Support continuous flow by training others and assisting staff.
• Cross-train in inspection and become qualified in SIA.
