JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is eligible for a $7500 Sign-On Bonus if eligibility requirements are met!


AirCare Paramedic, Ground Transports (Wilkes Base) Full-Time Nights


AirCare is part of an EMS network serving patients in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina, including air (helicopter) and ground ambulances stationed in strategic locations to provide fast, safe transportation for critically ill and injured patients.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides emergency care to patients per treatment protocols in accordance with NCCEP and N.C. Office of EMS (NCOEMS) guidelines. Serves as a care team member in the Emergency Department, following the Scope of Practice set by the Non-Traditional Practice Setting Agreement with N.C. EMS and the Medical Center. Serves patients across all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Paramedic certification from an accredited program or an A.A.S. degree in paramedic studies or equivalent. Three years of emergency service experience preferred.


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: BCLS and NC-OEMS EMT-P certification required. ACLS or PALS may be required within one year in certain areas. Critical care certification or national registry paramedic preferred. Maintains certification through approved NC-OEMS providers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides patient-centered care, evaluating emergencies and implementing therapies within scope of practice, collaborating with the healthcare team.
  2. Ensures a safe, respectful environment, utilizing technology and equipment to promote safety.
  3. Communicates effectively across the continuum of care and within the healthcare team.
  4. Participates in professional practices, including shared governance, peer review, and professional development.
  5. Acts as a patient advocate in all care settings and the community.
  6. Identifies priorities and initiates actions to improve patient outcomes.
  7. Uses medications and treatments as per protocols and physician orders.
  8. Performs point-of-care testing and maintains competency, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  9. Documents care and re-assessments accurately in the electronic medical record.
  10. Demonstrates teamwork and supports quality improvement initiatives.
  11. Upholds the organization's patient promise and facilitates patient flow and safety in the Emergency Department.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Collaborative work ethic.
  • Ability to assess and respond to communication cues from diverse patient populations.
  • Establishes rapport with staff, providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Physical ability to push, lift, and position patients and equipment.
  • Proficient in electronic documentation and compliant with laws and policies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Handles emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Subject to crowded conditions and interruptions.
  • Requires PPE use.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance.
