Job summary

Gogo Inc. is seeking an Airborne Platform Software Engineer to design, develop, and test production-grade software for BA airborne products on Linux. You will contribute to GUI features, feature extensions, and automated tests within a collaborative team environment.

You will work with Node.js, AngularJS, ReactJS, and REST APIs; have MongoDB experience and scripting in Python or Bash. The role emphasizes code quality, reviews, and integration with build and source control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of software development experience, preferably in a Linux or embedded systems environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop front-end GUI software features for new products or extend existing designs, including open source technologies.
• Conduct design reviews and participate in code inspections.
• Assist in development of automated unit tests.
• Provide estimates for design and feature development.
• Track project stories/tasks and ensure timely completion.
• Continually improve design, development, and test processes.
• May participate in establishing and maintaining software build environments and source code repositories for assigned projects.

OVERVIEW

As a Gogo Business Aviation Airborne Platform Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing production quality software for Gogo BA airborne products on a Linux platform. You will develop new features, enhance existing software components, and test feature functionality on both existing products and our Next Generation 5G Air to Ground solution. You will be part of an experienced development team that integrates closely with other teams across the company. HOW WILL YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Design and develop front-end GUI software features for new products or extend design of existing products, including selection and integration of third party technologies, particularly open source
• Conduct design reviews and participate in code inspections
• Assist in development of automated unit tests
• Provide estimates for design and feature development
• Track project stories/tasks, provide status, and ensure stories/tasks are completed on schedule
• Continually improve design, development, and test processes
• May participate in establishing and maintaining software build environment and source code repository for assigned projects

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of software development experience, preferably in a Linux or embedded systems environment

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TALENTS

• Experience with Node.js and Node Express
• Skilled with npm package manager
• Has worked with AngularJS and ReactJS
• Understanding of RESTFUL APIs
• Database experience with MongoDB and Mongoose middleware for Mongo and Node
• Knowledge in Python and/or BASH

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TALENTS

• Relevant software configuration management and tools skills using Git
• Experience supporting products in the field
• Skilled in Typescript
• Stylus CSS, Websockets, Redux state container for JS.
• Brunch build tool and Yarn package manager.
• ChaiJS and SinonJS for unit testing.
• Nginx
• Has worked with the Agile software development methodology and SAFe framework

Base Pay: 88,000.00 - 110,000.00 USD Annual Target Annual Short-Term Incentive: Bonus Plan at 5% (% of Annualized Base Pay) Eligible for Incentive Stock Program: Yes
