Job summary

Gogo is seeking a Senior Airborne Platform Software Engineer in Colorado to design, develop, and test production‑quality software for BA airborne products on a Linux platform. You will develop new features and enhance existing components for our Next Generation 5G Air to Ground solution in collaboration with an experienced team.

Responsibilities include design and development of software features, design documentation, code reviews, automated testing, and secure build and source control

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience, preferably in a Linux or embedded systems environment.
• Work effectively in a senior software engineering and test team.

• Create high and low‑level design documentation and participate in code reviews.
• Assist in development of automated unit tests and provide estimates for design and feature development.
• Track project stories/tasks and ensure on‑schedule delivery; continually improve development and test processes.

As a Gogo Senior Airborne Platform Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing production quality software for Gogo BA airborne products on a Linux platform. You will develop new features, enhance existing software components, and test feature functionality on both existing products and our Next Generation 5G Air to Ground solution. You will be part of an experienced development team that integrates closely with other teams across the company.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software features for new products or extend design of existing products, including selection and integration of third‑party technologies, particularly open source
• Create high and low‑level design documentation
• Conduct design reviews and participate in code inspections
• Assist in development of automated unit tests
• Provide estimates for design and feature development
• Track project stories/tasks, provide status, and ensure stories/tasks are completed on schedule
• Continually improve design, development, and test processes
• May participate in establishing and maintaining software build environment and source code repository for assigned projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of software development experience, preferably in a Linux or embedded systems environment
• Work effectively in a senior software engineering and test team

Required Skills, Experience and Talents

• Strong application development skills in Linux environments utilizing Python and/or Linux scripting languages, C/C++, and possibly Go
• Experience as a Software Engineer developing software and utilizing open source packages in data communications and/or telecommunications systems
• Understanding of Linux networking including routing, iptables, DHCP, and DNS
• Experience with the Jenkins automation build and test environment
• Relevant software configuration management and tools skills using Git
• Knowledge of Linux container concepts, especially Docker related
• Experience supporting products in the field

Preferred Skills, Experience and Talents

• Experience with 802.11ac wireless networking
• Understanding of traffic shaping and QoS
• Experience with the Agile software development methodology and SAFe framework
• Experience in Avionics and ARINC protocols
• Experience with the DO-178C certification process
• Satellite communication experience
