Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Senior AI Software Developer to modernize real-time, safety-critical air traffic systems in Gaithersburg, MD. The role uses microservices, Agile/SAFe, and AI-assisted software development practices to deliver scalable government-grade software.

The candidate will design, implement, and maintain microservices, lead Agile sprint planning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, secure, and high-performance solutions in a hybrid work model with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust investigation.
• 8+ years of software development experience, or Master's with 6+ years.
• Hands-on experience building and supporting microservices-based systems.
• Proficiency with Java, Python, C++, or a similar language in Linux environments.
• Experience with AI/ML-enabled systems or AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience in Agile environments and SAFe methodologies.
• Understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and modern software architectures.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS).
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and Kafka or other event-streaming technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications for air traffic operations.
• Lead Agile sprint planning and mentor development teams.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, product owners, DevSecOps, QA, and platform teams.
• Develop clean, testable code with CI/CD and automated testing frameworks.
• Integrate applications with APIs, databases, event-streaming platforms, and cloud services.
